Upcoming workshops at the 2014 Fibre Arts Festival, Amherst, Nova Scotia - Kathy Tidswell, Burtt’s Corner, New Brunswick

Kathy is teaching two classes at the 2014 Fibre Arts Festival in Amherst, Nova Scotia.

DESIGNING ONE OF A KIND WEARABLE ART - Tuesday, October 14  
Students will learn embellishment methods to produce one of a kind wearable art vests, capes or jackets. Design aspects including selecting patterns and batting, arranging appliqués, producing texture, making lace cutwork, bobbin work and trapunto will be covered. Samples will be produced using free motion embroidery on a regular zigzag sewing machine and some work on individual pieces will be started.

CREATING WITH THREAD  - Wednesday, October 15  

Students will learn to use free motion embroidery on their regular zigzag sewing machine to create realistic images totally from thread. They can choose from any of the vibrant flowers or birds pictured below. Methods for using them in quilts, artworks, cards and wearable art will be demonstrated. Once learned the method can be used to create your own individual works.
